NUREMBERG CASTLE

The Nurmerg Castle is a group of medieval buildings on top of a small sandstone mountain. It marked the center of Nuremberg. The whole construction was one of the greatest and most magnificent ones Europe had. The Nuremberg Castle is a "doublecastle" because it is made out of 2 other castles, the "Kaiserburg" and the "Burggrafenburg". The castle comprises both of them, and some more, less important medieval buildings. The first buildings were built around the year 1000. In WW2 the castle got destroyed completely by bombs. It took 30 years to rebuild and restore it. They tried to make the restorations look the same way as the original parts. And nowdays, the Nuremberg Castle and its history are very important to the Nurembergs. You can have a look at the inside of it too. It's opend daily from 9am - 6pm in the period from April - September and from 10am - 4pm in the period from October - September.
