THE NUREMBERG ZOO
The Nuremberg Zoo was opend in Mai 1939 and is 650.000squaremeters big. 1.2million million people visited the Zoo in 2018. The Zoo itself is located in a part of the big forest called "Lorenzer Reichswald". It is not the first zoo nuremberg had. The first one which was located at the "Dutzendteich", but had to be closed because the space it was built on was needed for other projects. There are over 300 different species in the new Zoo, which some of are threatened with extinction. Out of the 300 species, 80 are mammals and 80 are birds. To keep them in the zoo with good conditions, they had to limit the amount of the animals. The zoo helps to maintain the variety of animals in the world, by providing their animals. The Nuremberg zoo helps smaller organisations which stand for protection of the animals. The zoo is in possession of big and small mammals, predators, rodents, marsupials, dolphins and manatees, birds, fish and reptiles.
